Roof Maxx FAQs
Roof Maxx questions
Are all roof treatment oils the same?
No. The oil source alone does not establish how a finished treatment will perform. A product’s formulation, ability to penetrate asphalt shingles and application requirements matter. Simply calling a mixture “soy-based,” “plant-based” or “natural” does not demonstrate that it restores shingle flexibility or provides lasting results.
Homemade or untested mixtures may not deliver the intended benefit. Without testing on the specific finished product, customers should not assume it performs like a tested roof treatment. Ask for independent test reports, application instructions, safety information and written warranty terms for the exact product being offered.
Roof Maxx publishes research and testing information for its treatment. Explore our Research & Testing page to learn more and compare the evidence before deciding what goes on your roof.
How do I know if my roof qualifies?
Roof Maxx is designed for asphalt shingle roofs that are aging but still structurally sound. During a free assessment we check shingle condition, granule loss, flexibility and any damage, then tell you honestly whether treatment makes sense or whether repair or replacement is the better choice.
What exactly is Roof Maxx?
Roof Maxx is a plant-based treatment sprayed onto your existing shingles. It soaks in and replaces oils that shingles lose over time, which helps them regain flexibility and resist cracking.
How does Roof Maxx work?
As asphalt shingles age, they lose oils and become less flexible. Roof Maxx penetrates suitable shingles to help replenish those oils. It rejuvenates the shingles rather than forming a waterproof coating over the roof.
How much does it cost?
Every roof is different, so we price after the assessment based on your roof's size and condition. Restoration typically costs a fraction of a full replacement. Financing is available.
What should I expect on treatment day?
No tear-off, no dumpster and no shingles in your yard. Treatment is usually completed in a single visit.
Can you replace my roof if it's beyond treatment?
Yes. If your roof is past restoration, ECO Group also handles roof replacement, and we'll walk you through those options.
Can Roof Maxx make an asphalt roof last forever?
No. Roof Maxx can extend the useful life of suitable asphalt shingles, but all roofs eventually need replacement. Results depend on roof condition, maintenance and exposure.
Can I buy Roof Maxx and apply it myself?
Roof Maxx is professionally applied by authorized dealers. Contact ECO Group for an assessment and an estimate.
What is Roof Maxx made of?
Roof Maxx uses a plant-based, soy-derived oil treatment designed to penetrate aging asphalt shingles and restore flexibility.
Will Roof Maxx change my roof’s appearance?
Some roofs may darken slightly after treatment. The change varies by roof and may fade over time. The treatment is intended to improve shingle flexibility, not to recolor the roof.
Will treatment affect my homeowners insurance?
Insurance policies and underwriting decisions vary. Contact your insurer before treatment to confirm how it may affect your particular policy, inspections or renewal. We can provide information about the work performed.
Is Roof Maxx available in my area?
ECO Group provides Roof Maxx service within approximately 150 miles of our Chippewa Falls home base. Send your address and we’ll confirm coverage.
When should I treat my asphalt shingles?
Timing depends on the roof’s age, condition, climate and granule loss. An assessment can help determine whether treatment is appropriate now or whether your roof has other needs.
Can a newer roof benefit from treatment?
Roof Maxx generally does not recommend treatment until shingles begin showing signs of aging and granule loss. In northern climates, roofs younger than approximately 7–10 years may not need treatment yet. An assessment can help determine the right timing.
Will Roof Maxx stop or seal a roof leak?
No. Roof Maxx is a shingle rejuvenator, not a leak sealant. Leaks and damaged flashing, shingles or other roof components need to be assessed and appropriately repaired.
Will Roof Maxx remove moss, algae or mildew?
No. It does not remove existing growth or black streaks. Roof Maxx says its ingredient may help inhibit moss and algae; cleaning may be recommended before treatment. Ask us about your roof’s condition.
What weather is needed for treatment?
Roof Maxx says application requires dry weather and temperatures above 36°F; a slightly damp roof may still be treatable. Your technician will assess conditions and allow time for the product to soak in before rain.
Will treatment void my shingle manufacturer’s warranty?
Roof Maxx reports no indication that its treatment has caused a manufacturer’s warranty claim to be denied. Warranty terms differ, so review your shingle warranty and contact the manufacturer if you have questions about your coverage.
What does the five-year shingle flexibility warranty cover?
The transferable warranty covers treated shingle flexibility for five years, with prorated retreatment if the shingles fail the manufacturer’s flexibility test. It is not a warranty against Mother Nature: granule loss, leaks, faulty installation and wind, ice, snow or hail damage are excluded. It does not guarantee a previous contractor’s installation or repairs. A roof tune-up can address maintenance issues that may cause leaks, within the agreed scope; additional repairs are discussed separately. That is different from the treatment’s flexibility coverage. Read the coverage explanation and official warranty documents for the complete terms.
Is Roof Maxx safe for people, pets and plants?
Roof Maxx describes its plant-based treatment as safe for people, pets and the surrounding environment when properly applied. We can discuss application precautions and answer questions before treatment.
Does Roof Maxx pose a fire risk?
Roof Maxx describes the treatment as nonflammable. Ask us for product information if you have questions about your particular roof.
Can asphalt shingles be recycled?
Asphalt shingles can be recycled in some locations, but availability and accepted materials vary. Contact a local recycling facility or waste hauler to check options. Extending the life of an eligible roof can also delay tear-off waste.
Is treatment useful if I’m selling my home?
A treatment may help address aging shingles before a sale, and Roof Maxx offers a transferable five-year limited warranty, subject to its terms. Buyers, inspectors, lenders and insurers make their own decisions, so treatment does not guarantee a sale or particular outcome.
How long does treatment take?
Roof Maxx says application can take from roughly 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on the roof and any preparation needed. We’ll discuss the expected timing after assessing your property.
Do you work on commercial or multi-family roofs?
Roof Maxx is for asphalt shingle roofs on homes, rentals and many multi-family buildings. For flat or low-slope commercial roofs, see our Commercial Roof Restoration page.
Can my roof receive multiple treatments?
Roof Maxx describes repeat treatment at approximately five-year intervals for roofs that remain suitable. We assess the roof again before recommending another application. Repeat treatment is not a promise that a roof will last indefinitely.
